news from TST BOCES

September 17, 2024

Good morning,

Thanks to diligent staff and students here at TST BOCES, we are aware of threats that were posted on social media yesterday, September 16, 2024. Threats are being reported across New York State in similar fashion. We have worked closely with the Tompkins County Sheriff's Department and State Police last evening and into the morning to investigate the origins and nature of the threat. The threats are non-specific to our campus on Warren Road, and appear to be recycled or similar threats to those around the state. Law enforcement has determined the source of the threat, and there is no credible threat to TST BOCES at this time.

However, out of an abundance of caution, we have secured law enforcement presence on campus for today because we recognize that situations like these can create anxiety. Students are welcome to reach out to the adults around them - counselors, social workers, and other educators - and staff are welcome to reach out to colleagues or EAP.

As always, we urge everyone to follow our safety protocols, and if you see something to say something. Thank you for your deep care for our community, and for your commitment to the safety and well-being of our people.

Sincerely,
Lily C. Talcott
District Superintendent
